We split players into age-based groups — we aim to run a U12 group, a U14 group and a U16 group each session. This means your child is working alongside players at a similar stage of development, and our coaches can pitch the session at the right level for the room.
The Tuesday/Thursday sessions cover ball handling and driving development for all positions — change of pace, first step explosiveness, finishing at the rim, attacking closeouts and decision-making out of penetration. The Wednesday Point Guard Class is structured specifically for players who play or want to play point guard, with additional focus on pick and roll work — how to use a screen and roll more effectively, reading the defender and making the right decision as the ball handler — as well as reading the game, running the offence and being a threat as both a scorer and a facilitator.
Sessions cover ball control under pressure, change of pace and direction, first step explosiveness, attacking closeouts, beating defenders 1-on-1, driving angles, finishing at the rim on both sides, playing through contact and decision-making out of penetration. Everything progresses from simple to advanced based on the group — we teach when to use skills, why they work and how to apply them in games. Not just drills for the sake of drills.
All sessions are held at 2 Hewitt St, Cheltenham. Every session starts at 4:00pm. Week 1 runs Tuesday 30th June, Wednesday 1st July and Thursday 2nd July. Week 2 runs Monday 6th July, Wednesday 7th July and Thursday 8th July.
Sessions are capped at a maximum of 6 players per group. This means our coaches can give every player individual feedback and adjust the session to whoever is in the room. Once a session fills, it closes — no exceptions.
This clinic is designed for players at rep level or A-grade domestic level who can already dribble competently. Sessions move through the basics quickly and progress into more advanced concepts — change of speed, creation off the dribble, reading defenders — where a baseline level of ball handling understanding is assumed. If your child is still developing fundamental coordination and control, we'd recommend starting with one of our other programs first so they get the most out of their time with us.
No. Club training focuses on the team — strategy, plays, teamwork. This clinic focuses entirely on your individual child's ball handling and driving ability. The skills covered here directly translate to performing better within their club team — creating off the dribble, finishing through contact, not picking up the ball under pressure. These are individual skills that club training rarely has time to develop properly.
