This clinic is built specifically for U8–U12 domestic players. If your child plays domestic basketball and you want them to build stronger fundamentals, grow in confidence and enjoy their basketball more — this is the right fit. It's not aimed at rep players or advanced athletes; it's designed around exactly what young domestic players need at this stage of their development.
The curriculum covers layup technique on both sides, ball handling under control, passing and moving, shooting technique and confidence, basic footwork and spacing, and simple 1-on-1 moves. All drills are age-appropriate, clear and repeatable — so players actually improve and can take what they've learned straight back to their team training.
Mornings are dedicated to skill development in small groups — lots of reps with real coaching feedback so every child is actually improving, not just going through the motions. Afternoons move into 1v1, 3v3 and small-sided games that are fun, competitive and skill-focused. It's a full day of basketball done the right way — not just scrimmaging from 10 to 3.
The clinic runs July 1–3 from 10am to 3pm each day at Mentone Girls SC. Boys and girls are in separate groups, and the coach-to-player ratio is 1:10 to make sure every child gets proper attention and feedback throughout the day.
This clinic is built with exactly those kids in mind. A lot of young domestic players are trying to play games without strong basics — they're panicking with the ball, rushing layups or struggling to shoot with confidence. Our whole approach is about building fundamentals and confidence together, in an environment where kids feel safe to try things, make mistakes and improve. The goal is for every child to leave more confident than when they walked in.
Club training at domestic level is mostly team-focused — game preparation, drills run in large groups, not much time for individual feedback. This clinic is the opposite. Small groups, structured progressions and coaches who know exactly what U8–U12 domestic players need to improve. Our coaches have run domestic programs at St Finbars and Beaumaris Sharks for 6+ years, so this isn't generic holiday camp content — it's built from real experience coaching this exact age group.
No — boys and girls are in separate groups throughout the clinic. This means sessions can be tailored appropriately and every child is comfortable and engaged from day one.
